Illustrated Menagerie exhibition
Deadline: Monday 15th December
Illustrated Menagerie would like to invite illustrators and makers to submit artwork on the theme of 'animal' for its forthcoming exhibition.
Initially developed from the work produced in the first year Research Methodology project Illustrated Menagerie has grown and extended until now it is exhibiting in its own right in the exhibition space in Eldon West adjacent to the main entrance.
The exhibition will run for four weeks throughout February 2015, there will be a 'meet the artists' event on Friday 30th January, 4 - 7pm, to kick it off, a public lecture and workshops given by artists MyDogSighs and Los Dave, and will also involve community engagement with local schools.
If your work is selected for the exhibition it will be on display and credited to you during the exhibition and will be included in the exhibition catalogue. We will be promoting the exhibition internally and externally locally and online.
Submissions can be imagery created in the first year project or any other relevant artwork you may have subsequently completed. It is key that all artwork surrounds the theme of ‘animal’. If you are interested in submitting work for consideration for the exhibition the following guidelines apply;
Unframed artwork which is on good quality paper and in good condition - any size, format and media.
If the work is already framed submit it as it is but make sure it is safely wrapped (we will need to store the work for some weeks - A small image of the piece on the outside of the packaging would be useful for ease of identification of work)
If you have 3 dimensional work (sculpture/ paper cut etc) ensure it is safely packaged for transportation/storage. (A small image of the piece on the outside of the packaging would be useful for ease of identification of work)
Animation/interactive pieces should be submitted as workable files via USB stick, but please contact Nicky Hay if you have something and you're not sure the best format to use.
All work should be accompanied by a short statement detailing;
- Brief description of the theme explored and media used
- Your name and contact details
If possible, artwork should be sent or brought to Nicola Hay in the Illustration studio office (Eldon Building room 3.06) or posted to;

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide return postage costs. However, as previously stated, it is an excellent promotional opportunity with successful submissions receiving full credit and inclusion in the subsequent online exhibition catalogue.
There have been some absolutely wonderful pieces of work produced over the years and it would be fantastic to see some of these again submitted for the exhibition, (either as they are or further developed, if need be, and if you have time to do so.) Or indeed any imagery you feel would suit an 'Illustrated Menagerie' themed exhibition is most welcome for consideration.
